FOR WHOM THE TRAINING IS INTENDED

Any person (banksman / yardman) who is responsible for assisting in the manoeuvring and loading / unloading vehicles within the scope of any working activity they are employed to carry out.

THE AIM OF THE TRAINING

This course is designed to provide information and practice to help employees and employers meet their legal requirements and reduce the risk of accidents when carrying out reversing manoeuvres in the workplace.

The aim is to conform to the requirements of:

  • Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Health & Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996
  • Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Plus other relevant legislation

THE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course the Candidates will be able to:

  • Understand the requirements of the Regulations.
  • Understand the Signs and Signals used.
  • Carry out guidance of various vehicles.

TRAINING PROGRAMME

09.00 – 12.00     Theory and theory assessment.
13.00 – 16.00     Practical Training and practical assessment

Lunch is at 1200hrs to 1300hrs each day, and breaks are as and when required

RATIO OF INSTRUCTORS TO TRAINEES

1 instructor to 3 trainees for a novice course
1 instructor to 6 trainees for Experienced Worker Assessments.

ASSESSMENT

(a)   Examination – Theory test.
(b)   Practical – Demonstration of skill.
