PAT Tester

COURSE DURATION

FOR WHOM THE TRAINING IS INTENDED

Aimed at maintenance staff/ handymen/ janitors/ caretakers or anyone who wishes to bring their PAT in-house.  Course is very interactive, and is written with a specific PAT tester to be given at the end of the course to each delegate to ensure they are competent (if required)

.THE AIM OF THE TRAINING

To conform to the requirements of:

  • Health & Safety at Work regulations 1974
  • Abrasive Wheel Regulations 1970
  • Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992
  • Plus other relevant legislation

THE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course the Candidates will be able to understand:

  • What is PAT
  • Legislation and guidance
  • HSE statistics, and the effects of electricity on human contact
  • Categories and classes of electrical appliances,
  • Tests to be carried out and suggested frequency
  • Recording test results and labelling appliances
  • Practical demonstrations & exercises

RATIO OF INSTRUCTORS TO TRAINEES

1 instructor to 8 trainees .

ASSESSMENT

  • Multiple Choice assessment.
  • Practical – Demonstration of skill.

Successful completion is recognised by the issue of a Varis Training Certificate.
