NPORS

The National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) is an excellent alternative card scheme to the CPCS and has over 1000 members

NPORS is a HSE Approved Accrediting Body

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recognise NPORS as a competent organisation to accredit, monitor and train Instructors/Training Providers to deliver Operator training and testing. Recognition by the HSE is intended to help set and maintain professional training standards, helping employers select the training organisations who offer a good standard of training

Flexibility

A NPORS card is much more flexible than other schemes, giving you the ability to:

  • Include attachments – E.g. Telescopic Handler – with Bucket attachment.
  • Restrict the card for Operational reasons – E.g. 180 Excavator – restricted to front bucket use only.
  • Restrict the card for Commercial reasons – E.g. Restricted for use on company  sites only.

Training

We can offer full Novice Training Courses with NPORS assessments at the end. Suitable for candidates with no previous experience.

We also offer bespoke courses for semi experienced operators or those that may have used the machine in a different capacity

Experienced Worker Assessment – EWA

Alternatively, if you or your operators are experienced, an Experienced Worker Assessment is available.

These can  be delivered here at Varis, Forres or on your own site. For the latter, your site must meet NPORS specification for the category  and you must also have the correct items of plant and equipment on site.

It is recommended that delegates have at least 2 years prior experience although, as with anything, experience and ability are subjective.

Successful candidates will be issued with an NPORS card, which is valid for 3 or 5 years.

NPORS Operator Card Renewals

An operator can renew his NPORS card in one of two ways:

  • An employer signs a renewal notification form. This signature is to verify that the operator has maintained a good standard on the category and has been accident free during their employment.

Or

  • Refresher training to be completed for each group of categories.
