Emergency First Aid (1 Day)

Employers must give due diligence when selecting a First Aid Training Provider. All our courses are accredited and satisfy this requirement in accordance with the latest HSE Guidance.

Emergency First Aid TrainingCOURSE DURATION

6 Hours – normally 1 day

FOR WHOM THE TRAINING IS INTENDED

Personnel required to administer Emergency First Aid at Work following an employers Assessment of First Aid needs in accordance with The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 -Approved Code of Practice and guidance

THE AIM OF THE TRAINING

The aim of the course is to train selected people in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competence to carry out the duties of a workplace Emergency First Aider.

THE OBJECTIVES

On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:

(a) Understand the role of the first-aider including reference to:

(i) the importance of preventing cross-infection
(ii) the need for recording incidents and actions
(iii) use of available equipment

(b) Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
(c) Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
(d) Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation;
(e) Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
(f) Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
(g) Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
(h) Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.

TRAINING PROGRAMME

The course will include a combination of theory and practical sessions, utilising role play and discussion groups to re-enforce learning

RATIO OF INSTRUCTORS TO TRAINEES

The ratio will not exceed 1:12; therefore the maximum course size is 12 trainees at customer’s premises.
