Confined Space Awareness

COURSE DURATION

½ day

FOR WHOM THE TRAINING IS INTENDED

All personnel required to enter or carry out activities within a Confined Space.

THE AIM OF THE TRAINING

To conform to the requirements of:

(a) Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
(b) Risk Assessment & Management of H & S at W Act 1974.
(c) Confined Space Regulations 1997.
(d) Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
(e) Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992.
(f) Plus other relevant legislation.

THE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the course the Candidates will be able to:

(a)    Be aware of the hazards associated with Confined spaces.
(b)   Be aware of the control measures associated with confined space work.
(c)    Understand the requirements of the Regulations.
(d)   Understand Risk Assessments.
(e)   Understand the need for and when required, comply with/carry out work following a Safe Systems of Work.
(f)     Understand the need for and when required, comply with and carry their role in relation to Permits to Work.
(g)    If required, correctly use Gas Monitors. (Would require Varis Training being supplied with a copy of the Instructions for the type of Gas monitor to be used)

The course content is flexible to suit the working environment of the client

RATIO OF INSTRUCTORS TO TRAINEES

1 instructor to 10 trainees.

ASSESSMENT

There are a series of short answer and multiple choice questions to check the candidates understanding.

A Feedback form is issued at the end of the course
